Jacob started this writing binder recently that he plans to fill with stories from his life :)
I went to an open house at Orenda Elementary and was very impressed with Megan and Jacob's teachers. This picture was on Jacob's desk for me when I visited his classroom at the open house :)
School is still an adjustment for the kids and for me, but the kids are having some good experiences (like the first day of school when Megan got to share some of our beliefs with a girls who asked what religion she was) and we are forging ahead! I miss parts of homeschooling but want what is best for Megan and Jacob. Public school seems to be it for now. It is hard to watch them struggle, though, and some new experiences are difficult like hearing a lot of swearing and being required to show your work in math (and use a certain method even if you can do it in an easier way!) There will be many opportunities for growth I'm sure.
We had a nice weekend with a hike in the Adirondacks then a few hours at Great Escapes Six Flags on the way home. Here is the view from the top of the Ferris Wheel!
We are so grateful for our good ward and the friends we have made. Here are the kids making robots out of recyclables during the last cub scout pack meeting. Megan asked me how many people have invited us over for dinner since we moved here and we added it up to 11 in less than 4 months! We have been very warmly welcomed and have loved getting to know new friends.
Today we went apple picking after school--yum!--then the kids enjoyed feeding animals and playing at the orchard.
