Poor birds
Jacob has a new hobby. He watches the birds in our yard find worms, then he chases them away (it's awesome to watch--he waits until just the right moment then runs toward them yelling RAAAArrrr!) and gets the worms in a bottle. He now has 3. He made a pile of dirt for them on our cement (he figured out that when he put them in the grass they dug into the yard and got away!) and he gets them wet often so they don't dry out and feeds them food scraps. He covers them with a bucket so the birds don't get them. He just caught another one and set it on the driveway to run and get a container for it. While he was gone a bird got to it, but he ran back and chased the bird, scared it enough that it dropped the worm and Jacob saved it! We've told him that worms are good for our lawn and garden, and he is determined to save them from the birds. What a fun boy!
