Chrissy and I joined Rachel and Liesl for the beginning of their month-long roadschooling adventure! The week was awesome! We met up with Rachel (Emily and Elizabeth), Liesl (Mark, Kyra, Darci, Kaleb), and Chrissy (Abby and Leah) in Rock Springs last Sunday night (after we went to church with Mom and Gordon in Star Valley) and had a night with cousins in the hotel . . .
The next day after breakfast and packing up we headed to Martin's Cove . . .
| Rachel telling about our ancestor Anthonette Marie Olsen and how she made ash cakes in the fire to eat and walked the end of her journey to Salt Lake City barefoot |
Then we drove the rest of the way to Rapid City and stayed a night, then headed to Mt. Rushmore the next day after a morning of swimming at the "splash park" hotel pool . . .
| Katie's question when she saw Mt. Rushmore was: "Mom, where are their pretty dresses?" |
Then Liesl and Rachel and kids headed back to Rapid City for the night then off toward Iowa and beyond while Christina and I and kids spent a night in Keystone, SD then drove to the Butler Professional Farrier School in Nebraska (affectionately known by us as "the ranch") the next morning. It was a great place for the kids to play and roam!
Both Megan and Jacob loved the hay bales, kittens, horses, and riding ponies on their own! Katie loved the kittens and playing with cousins--and cousins' cousins!
After a great week we made it back to meet up at home with Jon who had been on a business trip to Philadelphia then spent the weekend in Provo with Amy and Cody, Tim and Penny, Kim and Chuck, and Kevin. Whew!
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Great pictures and so much fun!
