Hawaii!

We just got back from our almost annual family vacation to Hawaii!  After our first trip almost 7 years ago Jon and I "jokingly" said we should go every year.  This trip was our 6th!  It was wonderful.  We did a lot of hiking and some walks and bike rides and beach time.  The kids were great and we loved having time with Grandma and Grandpa Perkins and Eric and Debbie and Hannah!  Here are some highlights . . .

Oahu
Our hotel in Waikiki--the Holiday Inn Beachcomber
Walks along the shop-lined streets and the beach
 Feeding birds on the pier
Pearl Harbor
U.S.S Arizona Memorial

I loved being here and thinking of my Grandpa Simmons who was at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed.  His ship was sunk, but he was recovering in the hospital from getting his tonsils out and was able to join his brother on a different ship.  (It's a great story--his brother saw him coming down a ladder in his hospital whites and thought he was an angel!)  The video they showed here explaining the attack was really good.

Kauai

Our awesome condo at Pono Kai in Kapa'a (C-209)

Megan and Jake loved taking the elevator on their own
Morning walks (usually while Katie and I slept!)

The Kalalau trail along the Napali Coast

Kuilau Ridge Trail (this was most everyone's favorite hike)
Jacob and Uncle Eric
The ridge dropped off on both sides with great views

View from the top
Megan collected "fairy wheels" and flowers

Shave ice . . .

 Farmers Market . . .

Bike rides (these were my favorite!)
Megan riding the "tag-along" bike behind me was so fun!

At the beach . . .
Beach babes!

Jacob snorkeling!

The whole group at Scottys for breakfast!

Lizards and Fish . . .
Jon and his frog & Jacob and his lizard they caught after church
Jacob feeding a cricket he caught to his lizard

Maha'ulepu Trail

Waimea Canyon

Our great little hikers!
Whew!  What a trip!  And most definitely the longest post I've ever put together! :)

  1. Wow Kim, it's so beautiful! Maybe we should think about going to Hawaii instead of Florida...I love all of the pictures.
